About Hobo Nickel Rings

These are modern hand engraved vintage nickels. The original Hobo Nickels were done many years ago and are extremely rare.

Many years ago, a young man left his family home to travel, to find his country, to find himself. He never asked for a hand-out. He volunteered in hostels. He worked many places and jobs in his travels, coast to coast. Hitch-hiking was preferred to train-hopping, but a stationary boxcar was a good shelter to sleep in. He saw his country, he found himself. His memories harken back to the spirit of the Hobos of yesteryear. He was a Hobo in the early 1970's. He was me.

My Hobo Nickel Rings are made with hand engravers, a Gravermeister and a rotary tool. They are all different and have varying degrees of detail. These one of a kind hand made custom rings are made with respect and understanding of a ethical code that rarely exists today in a mostly mass produced industry. In short ,I love making these rings. I love the life I live and I live the life I love.

2013 is the 100th anniversary of the first Indian Head-Buffalo Nickels. Minted from 1913 to 1938, with the great depression years omitted. I use nickels with readable dates and would not alter a valuable coin or misrepresent one.
